not perfect yet
I want to show you my hammer cozy.
.
.
I got it from Deb May at the "Play" retreat. She was so nice to give it to me. My hammer appreciates it! Especially since it has been so cold here lately that in the mornings I have ice on my windshield and one morning even the wiper fluid was frozen. In California! It's all relative you know. We don't have any snow where I live but have had a couple of days with a hailstorm here and there. My head and hands need cozies.
changing the subject...
Jen Osborn has written up a tutorial for using your new Polaroid PoGo printer from a Mac. You don't need a cable if your computer has bluetooth. Mine does, so I tried it and it works! I am loving this little printer more than ever! That Jen is a clever one! Go to her blog (I call it "Camp Jen") and click on the entry "Do you PoGo?" Wow, now I can make pictures of everything I have on my laptop. I am just a geek... among other things.
I have finished the printing part of my zine for the time being. I have been binding these things and am sending the copies I promised back to each contributing artist.
Here is a small pile o' zines! They are soooooo pretty!
.
.
There will be more! I'm just a perfectionist and I have decided to go at a regular pace or I am going to burn out long before they are done. Patience please. I can only go so fast anyway. Yes, it is ridiculous how much time it is taking.
Oh well...
I was working on ATC's for the Artfest ATC Fatbook:
.
.
Airbrushed plexiglass with fishy stickers. Totally goofy! Can you see they all say something? Like a cross between animal crackers and love hearts.
But listen, I am crazy mad about plexiglass now and am helping to keep Tap Plastics in business. They sell their scraps for about $1 per pound. And the fish I actually made first out of Robert Dancik's FauxBone (which is plastic too!)

in a plastic dish!
and took a photo of each (both sides because I engraved each side with different things using a dremel engraving tool). He offers some sheets that are really thin and I could cut it with metal shears. If I cut it cold it stays flat but if I warm my little rectangles on a cup warmer the stuff gets soft and when I cut it it bends and cools into a wave, making the fish look like it would if it were swimming. So I have a combination of both kinds and they are going to be my trades at Artfest. Starting to sound like one commercial after another? I know, but I am just trying all these things out and telling you all about the ones I like. Some others are just not worth talking about.
My 4x4 Fatbook pages front:

These little fish are stickers on cardboard, 2 sided and hanging from fishing line. Don't scoff, I take the fatbooks very seriously!
The other side:

I took the photos of the jellyfish at the Academy of Sciences back in October. They look like space ships!
Now look at these wonderful spinner earrings I got from MetalClay Queen Celie Fago's etsy shop! She makes some of the most amazingly textured pieces. Go look!
.
.
And oh gosh I had to jump on the bandwagon and get myself Obamicon-ed!
.
.
Go do it!
And last, I have to brag! Take a look at this Treasury I was in on February 3th. I can't take my eyes off it. I love peonies so much!

My life is good. It's fun and I am weathering the "economic downturn" by making art with all my hoarded art supplies I got when things were better financially. Now my husband thinks I am a genius! Before I was just crazy.
After I get these zines back to my pals, I will offer some to you all. It will be a limited edition and first come, yada yada you know what I mean?
THEN I am seriously getting down and getting ready for Artfest. Teaching two classes, "Frameworks" making lovely picture frame pendants out of silverclay and "Precious PMC Collage" showing how to collage with metalclay in all the ways I have been able to think up. I think there is one spot left in each class so if you find you are the recipient of a financial windfall (miracles do happen - all the time) please come!
Take care of yourselves and stay warm. I am freezing right now and have to go stand over the heater for a bit. Then I am going back to the binding party I'm having in my head!
