It was definitely a surprise to see that two creative and talented women tagged me on the same day, Lora Hart and Lorena Angulo, both metal clay artists I have had the pleasure to get to know.
Lora, I have known for about a year and Lorena I just met on the internet recently and saw her beautiful hearts online and in the PMC Annual. Here are my answers to
THE QUESTIONS.
What is your current obsession? Smashing paint onto journal pages.
.
.
.
.
What is your weirdest obsession? photographing patterns off of clothing when I go shopping - inspiration!
.
.
.
What would you eat for your last meal? Wild mushroom risotto?
What are you wearing today? A little black tank dress with a draw string tie at the hem.
What are you listening to right now? The announcer down at the swim meet at the community pool near our house and "Tales of Symphonia", a video game my daughter is playing.
What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Pistachio
What do you think of the person who tagged you?
Lora Hart cracks me up. She is funny, in my opinion and I like listening to her talk and once she sang happy birthday to me over a video internet connection and her voice was beautiful. Sometimes I find that she and I have the same thought around the same time and often we visit the same blogs. She is a good role model of how to be more professional in business, although I think she might not agree with that. And it seems like she knows everyone. My life changed for the better after I met her. Lorena Angulo is from Mexico and lives in Texas and from what I have seen is very sweet and kind and wants to do well in her creative life. She has a family that she is very close to and still has time to make some of the most amazing and complicated hearts, inspired by Mexican art that I have ever seen. I hope I get to meet her someday.
If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere in the world, where would you like it to be? I would like it to be anywhere an hour from the big city so I don't have to live isolated and tied to my computer for mental stimulation, preferably, San Francisco (that was easy) or NYC, London, Paris... just kidding! (that's the escapist in me) I'll be happy if I get to visit once in a while.
If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go? I need to take a shower and get dressed and that would take an hour so I guess my time would be up. I do like it here. Okay, maybe the
Place de Vosges in Paris so I could check out some of the shops I missed when my husband was tapping his foot.
What is your favorite color? I am really thinking I like them all right now. I can't choose. Red, maybe green. Uh red...
.
.
What language would you like to learn? I'd like to get better at French.
What is your favorite piece of clothing in your wardrobe? My charcoal linen pin tucked tank tunic from Eileen Fisher!
.
.
What is your favorite TV show? I really don't like TV anymore. I will watch rented movies with my family though.
If you have $100 now, what would you spend it on? Molding paste is what I want now and a few things from an art store.
Favorite artist? How in the world am I supposed to answer this question? Right now, I have been poring over flickr photos of enamel artist Angela Gerhard
here and
here and
here. BUT, if I could list a few more, I would tell you where I've been and what kind of inspiration I am gathering for future work. It's all being stored up in here (pointing to my head)
Michelle Ward,
Mary Ann Moss,
Marie Otero,
Celie Fago,
Jennifer Judd-McGee, and I still love
Jes MaHarry but I am not that organic.
.
.
What is your favorite season and why? Fall because it is cooler and I can wear sweaters which I love.
Describe your personal style? Hmmm, My husband says I look kind of like a hippie chick. I dress down and am casual. I like to wear plain clothes so they show off the jewelry I make.
.
.
What are you going to do after this? Take that shower and go and work on some metal clay things I have in the works and then maybe smash some paint.
What is your favorite movie? tilt... I liked "10 Things I Hate About You". I can't remember movies anymore. I watch them and they are gone and then I wait for the next one. I like action movies and love it when the bad guy gets it in the end!
What is your favorite fruit? oranges and pears and also bananas
What inspires you? lines and color

What music do you like this week? Oh this is so hard! I like to put my ipod on shuffle. I like to work in silence though so I don't listen to music when I work. Work is my meditation and I think about life and people and what they have said to me. I replay interactions I have had, think about the person for whom I am making the current piece. I plan what I am going to do next in my life and also think about "what if this happened, what would I do?"
What is your dream job? I have it - making things. Actually my husband says I'm unemployable but he is just kidding, I think. If I had to have a job I am sure I could handle what ever they gave me to do at this point. I feel fortunate in my life that I can go with the flow of my ideas and don't have to wear panty hose.
.
.
What is stopping you? The pile of papers next to me and the chaos of ideas I must write down to make sense of it all.
If you can change something in the world to make it a better place, what would that be? I just don't know, really. I don't think it is in my power to change the greater world. I try to be who I want to be, open minded and flexible, to release anger when I feel it as best I can. I can only really be responsible for myself and possibly in some small way for the people I brush up against for the brief moment that is my life. I am sure going to have the best time I can and keep reminding myself that everything has a reason and that I am in the perfect place for me. When I get upset, I try to get back to what was I doing that was fun before I judged this as wrong. Maybe all that only makes sense to me. Oh well.
.
.
If you can change anything about you, what would it be and why? Stop being so critical of myself and stop telling myself that what I have done so far isn't good enough, fast enough or just enough. I would try to live even more in the moment.
What do you need? I need a bigger studio. Everything is spilling out the sides.
THE RULES: 1- Respond and rework; answer the questions on your blog, replace one question that you dislike with one of your invention, add one more question of your own. 2- Tag 4 (I know, I am rotten) other people,

Ta da!

Wait, while I don't want to sound ungrateful at all the friendship pouring my way (I really love it), please hold off on any more tags until say... September or October. I am having a hard time focusing as it is. Whew! and thank you for all the wonderful attention!
