She just started her blog in earnest and it is going to be a beauty because that's what she makes, beautiful things from metal clay.
Catherine is a very experienced and knowledgeable artisan and I have admired her work from afar for a while and recently bought her very informative volume on:

.
It is full of gorgeous photos and you can read it in one sitting if you are as intent as I am when learning something new. This book is full of photos and details the technique of water etching on metal clay and then enameling into the grooves you've created. She also writes extensively about the enameling process and lists the supplies and sources for them in the back of the book.
Here is another great thing about her new blog: There is a list of, in my opinion, the best metal clay and jewelry/art books in her sidebar and since I get asked often by people who are interested in learning more on these subjects what my favorite books are (and I can't steal her list), I am just going to send everyone there from now on.
You can find her book for purchase on her website here. Oh and please go welcome her so she feels like it was a great idea to start her blog. I mean it!
And while I really am not turning my blog into a design blog by introducing all these artists, what I am really doing is sharing them with you because when I was out there slogging away trying to figure out how to do this blogging thing, there were many artists who linked to me and helped me feel more wanted and appreciated on the internet.
I am in the process of making some new things. But I am not even close to the finished product. I am thinking and daydreaming, procrastinating and finishing things I started long ago. I'm spending time with my family and getting some sleep. I'm enjoying the weather and the air-conditioning in my house when it gets way too hot. I am pacing myself and taking it slower than I did from last September to this May.
I'm drawing and journaling, talking and sharing ideas with artist friends and just doing the next thing that gets me excited. AND...
I found out that I have been included in a new book and I didn't remember this until I searched my name over at Amazon. I admit it was an "all about me" moment but the book isn't. I am one of many artists that a woman by the name of Barbara Call invited to be in a book called Crafter's Devotional: 365 Days of Tips, Tricks, and Techniques for Unlocking Your Creative Spirit She has a very interesting looking book there and as soon as I get my copy I will tell you more about it.

So I was looking for some quote that I saw the other day and couldn't find it again, something that said "If I create from my heart it's beautiful but if I create from my head it just doesn't work." I don't remember it really but I thought Matisse said it so I went over to the list of his quotes and I found these two that are just as good.

Don't wait for inspiration. It comes while one is working. (Henri Matisse)
Creative people are curious, flexible, persistent and independent with a tremendous spirit of adventure and a love of play.
